Microphone, but Privacy-First

Soundscape AI uses short 10-second microphone samples to analyze noise in your environment. We focus on numeric insights (noise scores) — not raw audio recordings. We never sell your data.

1. Introduction

Welcome to Soundscape AI (“we”, “our”, or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Soundscape AI mobile or web applications (the “Service”). By using Soundscape AI, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Data Controller

For users in the EEA/UK, Soundscape AI (part of AppVerse) acts as the data controller under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR). You can contact us at contact@appverse.technology.

3. Information We Collect

  • Microphone Samples – very short audio snippets (around 10 seconds) captured only when you start an analysis. These samples are used to measure noise level, frequency profile and environment type.
  • Numerical Noise Data – we convert microphone samples into numeric metrics (e.g. decibel levels, noise score, sound categories). Only these numeric values are stored.
  • Usage & Analytics Data – number of sessions, analysis duration, chosen mode (focus, sleep, study, etc.) and basic in-app events, stored securely in Supabase under your unique user ID.
  • Account Information – if you create an account, we collect your email address, encrypted password, and optional profile fields (such as display name).
  • Support Communications – emails or messages you send to our support team.
  • Technical Data – anonymised device type, OS version, app version, and crash logs, used to ensure stability and security.

4. Microphone & Audio Processing

  • Soundscape AI accesses the microphone only when you start an analysis or a session that clearly indicates microphone use.
  • Audio is processed in real time to extract noise metrics; we do not use it to recognize speech or identify people.
  • By default, raw audio samples are not stored on our servers. Where temporary storage is technically needed, it is short-lived and automatically deleted.
  • You can revoke microphone permission at any time in your device settings, but some features will no longer function.

5. Payment & Subscription Information

Premium features and subscriptions for Soundscape AI are handled by Google Play and/or the App Store. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details. We only receive information necessary to confirm your purchase (e.g. a transaction ID or subscription status).

6. How We Use Your Information

  • To calculate noise scores and generate focus or sleep insights.
  • To personalize recommendations based on your goals and history.
  • To maintain and improve the performance, reliability and security of the Service.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

7. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK)

  • Performance of a contract – to deliver the Service and core app features.
  • Legitimate interests – to improve the app, prevent abuse, and keep the Service secure.
  • Consent – for access to the microphone and, where required, optional analytics or marketing.
  • Legal obligation – when we must retain data to comply with applicable laws.

8. Data Storage & Security

  • Numeric data and account information are stored in Supabase with Row-Level Security (RLS) and authentication.
  • All communication between the app and our servers is protected with HTTPS encryption.
  • Access to production data is strictly limited to authorized personnel with a legitimate need.
  • While we take strong measures, no system can be 100% secure. We continuously work to improve our defenses.

9. Data Sharing & Third Parties

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We may share limited data with trusted service providers (e.g. Supabase, analytics or crash reporting tools, payment platforms) who are bound by strict data protection agreements.
  • We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.

10. Data Retention

  • Account data is kept while your account is active.
  • Noise scores and session history are stored until you delete them or delete your account from within the app.
  • Technical logs may be stored for a limited period in aggregated or anonymised form for security and diagnostics.

11. International Data Transfers

Data may be processed in the European Union, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate. When data is transferred outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms, where required by law.

12. Children’s Privacy

Soundscape AI is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or higher minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

13. Your Rights

  • Access a copy of your personal data.
  • Request correction or deletion of your information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Request data portability, where applicable by law.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and may notify you within the app. We encourage you to review this Policy regularly.
